Change in doubles: Hlavackova is the new partner

13/04/2017 – The first tournament will be in Rabat with the two times Grand Slam champion.


From the WTA tournament in Morocco, Timi will start in doubles with a new partner. The Hungarian youngster will play alongside the two time womens’s doubles Grand Slam champion, Andrea Hlavackova.


“Andrea contacted Me recently when it was revealed that her partner, Shuai Peng only want to pay attention for the singles events. Hlavackova has been very successful in doubles in recent years, moreover, it will be beneficial for Me, that she is playing on the forehand side. It was her specific request not to began a big tournament in Madrid. Therefore, she will travel to Rabat to play with Me, instead of the Prague event. I feel that I need this movement, because after winning the Sydney tournament, We had no great results with Pavlyuchenkova. I want to achieve good results in doubles, also, I want to be among the best there! I am confident that it will be so! After Rabat, I will play with Andrea in Madrid, in Rome, at the Roland Garros and the grass court tournaments. For now, this was agreed. I would like to thank to Nastia Pavlyuchenkova for the joint appearances, the success at Sydney remains is memory forever! “– said Timi.


Timi is currently ranked 14th in the world ranking in doubles, her career best position was 8 (22 June, 2015). So far, she remained unbeaten at 11 WTA Tour tournament, played two finals at Wimbledon (2014, 2016) and also appeared twice in your year-end WTA Tour Championship (2015, 2016).


The Hungarian player started the season with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, they won the Apia International at Sydney, then reached the third round at the Australian Open.


Andrea Hlavackova (born: 10 August 1986) is ranked 9th, her career best position was 3 (22 October 2012) in doubles. So far, she has won 19 WTA and 19 ITF event in this genre. The Czech star played 6 times in a Grand Slam final in women’s doubles: she remained unbeaten in 2011 at the Roland Garros and 2013 at the US Open, both times with Lucie Hradecka. Further GS finale: 2012 – Wimbledon (Co: Hradecka), US Open (Co: Hradecka), 2016 – US Open (Co: Hradecka), 2017 – Australian Open (co Shuai Peng). Hlavackova and Hradecka won the silver medal at the London Olimpics and they reached the final in 2012 at the WTA Tour Championships.


Andrea Hlavackova this year won the Shenzhen event with Shuai Peng, and they were finalist at the Australian Open and in Dubai.
