10/05/2016 – Timi played better almost the whole match against the in-form Kiki Bertens.

The match lasted one hour and 15 minutes at the Foro Italico.

 

The Hungarian player celebrating her 23rd Birthday on Tuesday, and did it pretty happy with a nice victory in the Italian capital. Bertens only ranked 86th, but in recent weeks scored big victories at the WTA Tour and in the Fed Cup.

 

However, Timi was the better in Rome. In the 32-minute first set, she gave no chance for the opponent. After 1:1, the Hungarian youngster took control, she broke Bertens at 2:1 to 40. Then, Timi saved her service game from 15-40. And at 4:1, she broke the rival to 40, then she hold her serve to 30.

 

The Hungarian player started well the second set, she broke Bertens immediately. But this advantage didn’t last long. And it was the case, few minutes later. Timi broke after 2:2, but the Dutch player equliazed to 4:4.

 

Fortunately, Timi received well in the next game, she won her opponent’s service game to 15. The she hold her serve to 30, so she advanced to the 2nd round.

 

The Hungarian player’s next opponent will be the World No14 Venus Williams. The 35-year old US-star’s career best position was 1 (25th February 2002). During her career she has remained unbeaten in 49 WTA tournaments. She won a total of seven Grand Slam events in singles: Wimbledon (2000, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2008), US Open (2000, 2001). This year, she triumphed in Kaohsiung (Taiwan, 500 000 USD, hard court).
