The Hungarian-Czech double won very confidently, even though in the second set the home players were slightly better.
The 21-minute first set was close just in the beginning. Timi and Hlaváčková won the first two games to 40, behind the serves, then as a receiver. Then the Hungarian-Czech double broke the opponent to 15, and to 40. And they lost only one rally behind their serves. After 5:0 they easily finished the set to 0.
The second act brought great change. Arruabarrena and Sorribes-Tormo played very careful behind the serves, although they won only a single rally as a receiver till 4:3. Then they surprisingly broke the opponent to 40, and after that they won their service game to 0.
The decisive tie-break was one-sided! Timi and Hlaváčková went to a 9-0 lead, with four receiver’s point. Then the Spanish pair came back to 9-3, but the fifth seed double lived with the fourth match ball.
In the QF Timi and Hlaváčková’s will meet Kiki Bertens and Johanna Larsson.
