02/01/2017 – The Hungarian player began well in Shenzhen, but did not lived with the chances in the second and third set.

“Unfortunately it just could not succeeded… I started very well, then in the second set I also had plenty of chances, but I blew them. I must find the match routine, I must swing back! This is a new situation is a little bit for Me, it has never passed such a long time between the last match of the past season and the first match of the new year. I worked a lot in the off-season, I will surely got the right results. Especially considering the first set, because I played a really good tennis”– rated Timi.


Timi had a good start at the first match of the 2017 season, but in the second and third set did not use the opportunities. She started as a clear favorite, the opponent was the World No140, who had to play in the qualies in Shenzhen.


In the 30-minute first set Timi jumped to a 5:0 lead, with two breaks. And after 5:1, she easily finished the opening act.


But Stojanovic came back with strong service games and good tennis. She saved a total of 4 break point in the second part of the second set. At 5:5, the Serbian youngster came back from 15-40…And in the next game she broke Timi to 15.


In the final set, Timi equalized after 0:2, but at 2:3, she again lost her service game. And it proved decisive. Stojanovic easily jumped to a 5:2 lead, then won her opponent’s service game…Timi led 40-15, so she had a good chance for 3:5.


Next week the Hungarian youngster will play in Sydney at the Apia International WTA event.
