Auckland: defeat in doubles

03/01/2019 – Timi and Julia Goerges finished in the QF.

Xinyun Han, Darija Jurak  (Chinese, Croatian)-Tímea Babos, Julia Goerges (Hungarian, German) 6:2, 6:4


The match lasted 62 minutes in Auckland.


The 4th China-Croatian double played better, deservedly reached the semifinal.


In the 27-minute first set, Han and Jurak jumped to a 4:0 lead, broke the opponent to 30, then to 0. After that, Timi and Goerges rescued their serve from 15-40, but they were not dangerous as a receiver. The 4th seeded pair easily finished the set to 15, after 5:2.


In the second set, the Chinese and Croatian player pulled to a 5:1, breaking the Hungarian-German pair to 0, and then to 40. After that, Timi and Goerges won three game sin a row, int he eight game they broke the opponent to 15. Then, at 5:4, Han and Jurak brought their service game from 15-30, closing the match.


Next week the Hungarian player will be competing at the 250 000 USD Hobart International (Australia). Then came the opening Grand Slam event of the season, the Australian Open in Melbourne.
