The current Number One players of the Hungarian tennis, Tímea Babos and Márton Fucsovics join forces in a mixed pair. From the Australian Open (where Timi won the women’s doubles with Kristina Mladenovic in 2018 and played int he final with Rohan Bopanna in Mixed Doubles) are definitely joining together and are scheduled to start as many Grand Slam tournaments as they can.
Timi is a true doubles specialist who has defended her WTA Finals-title a month ago, and in 2018 she celebrated a Grand Slam victory and played a final at the US Open. She became the first ever Hungarian adult star, who was World Number One. At the moment, she is third, and in singles, she is 59th.
“Since I’ve been playing tennis, I know Marton” – said Timi, who remembers she first saw the “very talented, blond boy” at the first County Championship.
Timi re-emphasized, first and foremost, she is a singles player, but at the same time she have best results in women’s and mixed doubles.
“I know how good Marci is and how excellent he is, so it is not a question for Us that we are going to be very good together. It is clear that Marci will be fine, whom I know and trust.”
Timi said he has rarely started in mixed doubles lately, but when she did, she always had good results.
“I will be able to stand on the court more calmly by playing with a good friend for the same goal. Who is very much appreciated as a man and a player, which I hope will have even better results.”
Timi and Marci agreed that they would like to compete together as many times as possible and win as many tournaments, but the key phrase was clearly made by Timi: “The goal is Tokyo, where we want to win a medal”.
