AO 2019: convincing victory after a bad start

19/01/2019 – Timi and Kristina Mladenovic lost one game after the first set.

The match lasted 1 hour and 34 minutes in Melbourne.

 

In the 36-minute first set, Jurak and Xinyun Han broke their opponent twice, reaching a set advantage. In the opening game, boom, the Croatian-Chinese pair won Timi’s serve to 30, then int he fifth game to 40. Then, they hold their serve from a break point.

 

Timi and Kristina Mladenovic led 40-0 as a receiver int he eight game, and had another break point after 40-40. But they did not lived with the chances, the opponent  closed the opening act.

 

The sequel has been radically different! The Hungarian-French pair thoroughly upgraded as a receiver and behind the serves, broke the opponent after 2:1. Timi and Kiki Mladenovic won the rival’s serve twice to 30. Then they finished the set behind the serves, saving a break point.

 

The third set practically decided at the beginning. Timi and Kiki Mladenovic broke to 15 in the opening game, then saved their serves from 15-40. After that, the Hungarian-French double won his opponent’s service to 30, and after 3:0 they lost onlya single rally in the next two games.

 

The Hungarian-French double led to 40-30 after 5:0, eventually using the second match ball.

 

Timi and Kristina Mladenovic will meet the 13th seed Kirsten Flipkens and Johanna Larsson int he next round.
