20/01/2015 – The 25th seed Barbora Zahlavova Strycova won in two cloe set against the World No 92 Tímea Babos in the opening round of the Australian Open in Melbourne.

The match lasted 1 hour 33 minutes.

In the 2015 season the 21-year-old Hungarian player reached the second round in Shenzhen and lost in the third qualifying round in Sydney. The last year’s Wimbledon quarterfinalist Czech player was in the semifinal in China and defeated in the last eight in Australia.

 

In the 51-minute first set at the Australian Open Timi saved a total of five break points in the opening three games: in the first game she saved three chances and after 1:1 another two. She hold her service game twice after 15-40.

 

In the sixth gave Zahlavova Strycova saved three break points, then won her opponent’s service game to 30. The Czech player lived with the second chance in taht game.

 

Timi came back to 5:4, but she couldn’t break the rival in the tenth game. Zahlavova Strycova hold her service to 30.

 

Unfortunately, at the beginning of the second set Zahlavova Strycova broke twice, and after that she hold that lead. In the last game she lost only two rallies. Timi fought hard, but without success.

 

In women’s doubles the Hungarian player and the French Kristina Mladenovic is seeded 10th. Their first opponent is the pair of Bojana Jovanovski from Serbia and Katarzyna Piter from Poland. In mixed doubles Timi will play with Eric Butorac from the USA.
