10/01/2015 – Timi won in two sets against Marina Erakovic in the second qualifying round of the 731,000 USD Sydney WTA tournament.
The match lasted 58 minutes. The 21-year old Hungarian player’s next opponent will be Polona Hercog for the main draw. In doubles Timi and Kristina Mladenovic wll meet Michaella Krajicek and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.

Timi provided excellent performance in the second round, her opponent had no chance! In the third game she broke Erakovic to 30, and then confidently maintained her lead. In the seventh game the Hungarian youngster again won her opponent’s service game to 30, and after that she colsed the set in the next game.
The second set was also one-sided! Timi served perfectly! In five service games she hit five aces, she won 12 points after the first serve, and 8 points after the second serves.
After 1:1 Timi broke Erakovic again, and easily hold that lead. At 5:3 the opponent saved a match point, but then the Hungarian player won the next game and the match.
Timi’s next opponent, for the main draw will be Polona Hercog. The Slovenian player is ranked 94th, her career best was 35 (12 September 2011). During her career she has won two WTA (2011 and 2012: Bastad) and 11 ITF singles competition.
In 2014 Hercog was a quarterfinalist in Marrakech (Morocco, 250,000 USD, clay), Oeiras (Portugal, 250,000 USD, clay) and Bucharest (Romania, 250,000 USD, clay).
Timi last year won the doubles tournament with Lucie Safarova. This season she will start with Kristina Mladenovic. The Hungarian player is ranked 19, while her French partner is ranked 18th. The first opponent will be Michaella Krajicek (27) and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova, (31).
