Naomi Osaka (Japan/tennis) for women, Robert Lewandowski (Poland/football) for men, and Bayern Munich (Germany/football) were the best of the year in the International Sports Journalists Association (AIPS) poll, in which 422 journalists from 116 countries cast their votes, writes MTI. In the team competition, Tímea Babos, Kristina Mladenovic, finished in sixth place.
The teams ’competition was dominated by Champions League winner Bayern Munich with 1,317 points, ahead of English football champion Liverpool (753) and North American Basketball Championship (NBA) winner Los Angeles Lakers (658). In this category it was possible to vote for a double for Tímea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic, the Hungarian-French tennis pair, which proved to be the best in two Grand Slam tournaments this year, finished sixth with 129 points.
