13/12/2013 -The Hungarian News Agency’s Sports Editioral Office requested the national associations every year since 1964, to decide, who is the year’s best in their sport.
This year the best tennis players are Márton Fucsovics (1st time) and Tímea Babos (2nd time)!
“It feels good to close my year with such a prize! To be Hungary ‘s best female tennis player and a top100 player needs a lot of work, so any recognition gives Me more strength and motivation! Thank you for the award, I hope that this “awardseries” will not be interrupted soon :)” – Timi said.
This year Timi won the singles event in Johannesburg ITF tournament and celebrated five doubles triumphs at The WTA Tour. She won with Mandy Minella at Bogota and in Marrakech. In Monterrey her partner was Kimiko Date-Krumm, in Suzhou Timi played with Michaella Krajicek, while in Tashkent with Yaroslava Shvedova. The 20- year-old Hungarian player was also a finalist in singles in the Donetsk and Toronto (both ITF), while with Minella she played in the final at Hobart (WTA). She reached the last four in singles in Suzhou and Saguenay, and in doubles in Florianopolis with Date-Krumm. In Monterrey Timi defeated the former World No 1 Ana Ivanovic, this is her biggest win is singles in her entire career.
Timi is currently 88th in singles , while 45th in doubles.
