After a great battle, defeat in Strasbourg

22/05/2018 – Timi could not hold her service games in the decisive set.

The match lasted 2 hours 49 minutes.


The Kazakh player was better in the first part of the 67-minute opening act, she constantly threatened her opponent’s service games. Timi saved a total of four break points in the third game, and had an opportunity for 3:1. She could not lived with that chance, and Diyas broke her to 30, after 2:2.


In the ninth game, the Kazakh player got three set points as a receiver, then another two after 5:4. Timi saved all of them, and finally, she broke back. The Hungarian player led 6:5, but Diyas came back strongly.


The Kazakh player hold her serve easily for the tie-break, where she broke her opponent four times (7-2).


At the beginning of the 38-minute second act, Diyas led 2:0, but Timi turned to a 4:2 lead (broke the opponent to 0 and then to 30). There was no new turn, the Hungarian player wins her serve to 15, after 5:4.


Unfortunately, in the decisive set, Timi did not do well behind her serves and could not lived with her chances as a receiver. Diyas hold her serve from two break points in the opening game, then broke her rival after 1:0. The Hungarian player came back with a quick break, but then she lost her serve again. Timi won her opponent’s serve in the fifth game, but again lost her own after 3:2. And it was crucial.


In the seventh game, Diyas lost only two rallies, then she broke Timi with her third match point. The Hungarian player had a total of four balls for 5:3…
