Timi fought very well against the 7th seeded Chinese player, and had a big chance for the quarter-final.
In the 42-minute first set, the 25-year old Hungarian player won her opponent’s serve to 40, but immediately lost that advantage. Fortunately, this did not break Timi, after 4:4 she broke Zheng to 30. Then, she hold her serve to 15, in the next game.
In the 41-minute second act, both player hold their own game until 3:3, then Timi confidently won her opponent’s game to 15. Unfortunately, the turn came. Zheng broke back to 30, then hold her serve to 15. Then, unfortunately, the Hungarian player won only two rallies behind the serve, so the final set came.
At the beginning of the third set, Timi had great chances, but she couldn’t take advantage of the opportunities. In the opening game she led 40-0 as a receiver, but Zheng saved the game. After 1:1, there was another unused break point, which was later proved to be decisive.
The Chinese player won her opponent’s serve after 2:1, after 40-15… Zheng continued to play with confidence, and after 5:3 she hold her serve to 15.
