09/08/2014 – Timi won in two sets against the seventh seed, World No 48 Caroline Garcia in the first qualifying round in the Cincinnati Premier tournament Western & Southern Open!

The meeting lasted one hour and 16 minutes. Timi’s next opponent will be the 23rd seed, World No 75 Chanelle Scheepers.

“I’m happy! First, the fact that I could start at this tournament. I missed the last week in singles, so we were able to work on my game a lot. Not the victory, but I’m glad with my performance today! Tomorrow will come the next match”– Timi said after the match.

 

In the 37-minute opening set Garcia led 40-15 in the first game, but she lost the service game. After 2:0 the French player won three games in a row, but then Timi equalized twice (4:4). In the ninth game the Hungarian youngster broke the rival to 0, then hold the next service game to 30.

 

In the second set Timi also led 2:0, and had two break points in the third game. But Garcia again won three games in a row.

 

After that the 21-year old Hungarian youngster played almost perfectly! She broke the rival twice and advanced to the second round.

 

Timi’s next opponent wil be the 23rd seed Chanelle Scheepers. The South African player is ranked 75th, her career best was 37th (10.11.2011). She has won 1 WTA and 12 ITF events in singles.
