15/02/2016 – Last week’s two victories in Russia means a lot for Timi! The 22-year old reached the quarter-final of a Premier tournament first time in St. Petersburg, and she moved seven places in the WTA ranking.
In the opening match Timi defeated the qualifier Katerina Siniakova (7:6, 7:5), the she won against the ninth seed Monica Niculescu (4:6, 6:1, 6:3). In the quarter-final she lost against the later Champion Roberta Vinci (7:6, 4:6, 7:6).
“Of course, I’m terribly glad that I was able to improve my ranks again !! I am happy to have achieved a new career-high! Obviously, this gives even more motivation and momentum. Again, thanks to everyone who helped and supported Me, especially for those people who are close to Me! I hope that this is just the beginning of a journey”– said Timi.
Thus, the Hungarian player’s previous career-high was the 51st place, after the Australian Open. Now, she first time entered the top50.
The Hungarian player reached the top100 first time on February 27, 2012, after her Monterrey triumph. She moved from the 107th place. Since then, she is almost continuously member of the top100. In the year-ending rankings she was 64th in 2012, 88th in 2013, 99th in 2014, while in 2015 she was at the 85th position.
In this year’s Singles Race she moved from the 17th place to the 12th. She is also 12th in the Doubles Ranking.
